Our Fire Department is dedicated to serving our community with the highest level of professionalism and care. We have been providing fire protection and emergency services for over 50 years, and our team of firefighters is second to none. We offer a range of services, including fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials response, and community education programs. We are proud to serve our community and will always be here when you need us.
We are a 100% volunteer and we are a Federally Recognized Non-Profit 501(c)(3) organization.
The rapid growth of our region, both in population and infrastructure, meant that a more organized and unified system was necessary to meet the increasing demands for fire protection, rescue services, and medical emergencies. In the early 1970s, community leaders recognized this need and understood that by combining their resources, they could form a stronger, more coordinated force—one that could better protect everyone who called this area home.
With this vision in mind, the Tri-Community Fire Department was incorporated in 1974, initially serving the communities of Bunkerhill, Goss, and Cedar Grove. Over time, the department expanded to cover additional areas, including Improve, New Union, and Keno, now known as Enon.
As the years passed and the department's service area grew, so too did its capabilities. The early stations were built with scrap and donated materials, reflecting the dedication and resourcefulness of the community. The department's fire trucks evolved from old GI trucks to modern Class A fire trucks, and tankers were crafted from repurposed gas trucks and chicken fertilizer trucks, with makeshift seats made from 5-gallon buckets. This evolution in equipment, along with the growth in personnel and community support, allowed Tri-Community Fire Department to meet the ever-increasing demands of a growing region.
To provide the most effective fire protection, rescue, emergency medical first responder services, and fire prevention to the citizens and visitors of Tri-Community Fire Protection District. The ultimate mission is to protect Life and Property.
Tri-Community Fire Department has a Class 7 rating with the Mississippi State Rating Bureau. We serve approximately 185 square miles of rural Marion County, protecting a population of around 7,000 residents. Our department operates out of six stations across our district, each housing Class A fire engines. Our membership consists of 55 to 60 dedicated volunteers.
We offer a wide range of services to the community including fire suppression, vehicle extrication, rope rescue, water rescue, hazardous materials response, and community outreach programs. Our department also partners with the Mississippi State Fire Marshall's Office to provide free smoke detectors to residents in need.
